Continue ShoppingDanielle creates each piece of jewelry & metal through traditional metalsmithing techniques such as raising, cold forging, & chasing and repoussé. Check out my process videos, studio tour & technique explanations below!
Many of my designs are made using the process of cold-forging. Cold-forging copper & silver involves hammering softened stock metal into shape, this requires heating with a torch between each step, and does not need to be hot while hammering.
Raising is a physically intense process, involving hammering a flat sheet of metal over a steel stake; the metal is held at an angle and hammered in circles, eventually forming a vessel.
Chasing & Repoussé is a metalworking technique in which a malleable metal is ornamented or shaped by hammering from the reverse side to create a design in low relief.
